Getting ready for school: why bother being organised at all!
Welcome to my blog…pull up a chair, have a biscuit and enjoy (I hope)…
Getting ready for school; did we miss anything?
As the kids have been in it for nearly 6 weeks; our house is now pretty much full of crap. I haven’t had a chance to clear it up. Trying to work, cook, clean, entertain, watch the Olympics (ahem), do more entertaining, craft and god knows what else has taken its toll.
As usual, I am scrabbling about for the kit for tomorrow; book bags, reading diaries, sun cream. And YES, sun cream – we are returning to school, and so the sun has decided that its summer now. Instead of it being that damp, grey, monstrous thing we had while the kids were at home…
Getting ready for school: where ARE those PE kits?
Guess what, I can’t find the PE kits ANYWHERE. I looked everywhere you know..
the hall…clearly the obvious place, so they weren’t there
the toilet…less obvious, but Stuntboy does have a habit of putting things in there that shouldn’t be in there
the cupboard under the stairs…where the monster lurks…perhaps he fancies a race with Usain Bolt – who knows?
the wendy house….kids can put things in the places you expect the least. Perhaps they wanted to use them as swag bags on their latest pirate caper?
However, the kids hadn’t put them anywhere.
I had.
I put them there 6 weeks ago.
I found them an hour later.
Do you know where they were?
Hanging up neatly behind the children’s coats on our coat hooks in the hall.
They were even washed.
I was trying to be organised by thinking ahead.
Sod that next time.
How did YOUR preparations for school go? Bet you can’t beat mine for chaos! Do let me know below.

Haha I am always putting things ‘somewhere safe’ so I can totally relate to this! This year my next door neighbour managed to convince me school started back a day earlier so I had a mad panic until he admitted he was joking. The sad thing is that I am a teacher on maternity leave so I really should’ve known!!

I will never be organised but I wish my brain would properly register the fact and stop trying! So true about the sun!! x

I too have fallen foul to organisation….. it never pays. Last year I couldn’t find the trainers I’d bought for ds1 so I went out and bought another pair thinking I must have been mistaken that I’d bought them in the first place…. only to find them in the shoe box just after he’d used the other pair. Needless to say I hadn’t been organised enough to keep the receipt for the first pair! *note to self – sod that organisation lark, chaos rules*

I am definitely sticking with chaos…it works much better for me
And this typing comments blind is a bit of a nightmare isn’t it…runs off to get IT help…
